Pit Stop - If a driver makes a pit stop, he/she stops in a special place at the side of the track to get more fuel & to make repairs. Life has the tendency to become monotonous and it can seem sometimes like you're on some kind of time loop, doing the same thing everyday but seemingly not making any progress. This can relate to any sphere of your life. Your career, your relationships, your business. Don't despise your small, rocky or unconventional beginnings. The pit is a temporary place of preparation where you develop the tenacity needed for where you're going and where you do the work necessary to sustain that position when you get there. It is the set up for the display of God's sovereignty in the midst of opposition and adversity. Like Joseph in the Bible, your pit is just a stepping stone to the palace. Now I don't want you to incorrectly assume that the palace is your destination. The palace is the means to an end. The end is fulfilling God's purpose for your life via whatever means He chooses to use. There will be bumps in the road. The secret to life is realising that it's not about a destination, it's all about the journey, all about becoming...And yes, there will be times of celebration, times of achievement and times of meeting goals but we never arrive at a final destination. Life is all about growth and development. Ask any of the greats, stagnation is the number one cause of failure in any movement. The pit stop is a short stop. It's not meant to be permanent. Do the work, allow God to fix what needs to be fixed, adjust your attitude and perspective as He leads and live in joy knowing that after this short stop, this hiccup, this sometimes annoying moment of God's refining, you will take off again. And you will do so with greater capacity, increased speed and a greater measure of safety. Because you have allowed Him to adjust, tighten, release and change those things about you that are necessary for your growth and advancement, you'll be better able to finish the race strong! If you're in the race and you constantly bypass the pit stop because you think it'll help you to finish first or you hate the discomfort of the pressure which the mechanics apply, guess what? That equipment can malfunction unbeknownst to you or the wear and tear from the journey you have already travelled can cause the vehicle to stall or worse. There is a measure of anxiety associated with a pit stop and that's totally understandable. Every eventuality crosses your mind. "Maybe this will slow me down." "Others are passing me by while I'm getting these repairs done." Sometimes even our own timelines can berate us. It's absolutely amazing to have goals and to set targets for your life but I pray that your targets are not idols in your life. I pray that you are willing to lay your timeline on the altar of sacrifice for something much greater: the will of God. I pray that you don't run from the repairs. I pray that you don't get impatient at your pit stop. It's just part of the journey and process. So sit still and let God work on you. Let Him do the work necessary for you to continue the journey and finish well.
