Hey everyone! It's been a hectic few months...but I'm back! I hope that you're all doing well.
This is the first post of my series called "Listen". I hope that you stick with me on this journey as we explore the Word of God and tune our ears to hear the voice of our Heavenly Father.
Now, what if I told you God still speaks? What if I told you God is always speaking but we're not always listening? But...I'm getting ahead of myself! Let's start at the beginning, with the infallible, eternal written Word of God.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
For the word(logos) of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
Logos - This Greek word, used several times in the New Testament and translated in the English language as "word", refers to the Scriptures or the Holy Bible. God's Word is His greatest gift to us and His complete revelation to the human race. His Word is the foundation of the Christian faith. It is a foundational belief of our faith that all scripture (everything written in the Bible, from start to finish) was inspired by God. It teaches, rebukes, corrects and trains us in doing what is right.
In the beginning was the Word (logos), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
And the Word (logos) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
The Apostle John in the above scriptures, referred to the Son of God as "the Word made flesh". Dr. Bill Hamon, in his book Prophets and Personal Prophecy, explained it this way, "Jesus was the eternal Word revealed and manifest in mortal flesh." And that Word stands infallible forever. That Word has never changed and will never change. As the writer of Hebrews says of Him, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." This is why we can be sure as believers that there is nothing that can be added to or taken away from what has been written in the Bible.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." (2 Tim 2:15)
That being said, it is our right, privilege and responsibility as believers to study the scriptures. If we don't value what God has already said, if we don't obey what He has written in His word, the truth is, how can God trust us with anything else? His Word "judges the thoughts and attitudes" of our hearts. If then, we don't read and study the Word of God, how will we be trained in righteousness?
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2)
We have to have the word of God in us. We have to memorize and meditate on scripture so that our minds can be renewed. As we read, the Holy Spirit literally,And after our minds are renewed, THEN we will be able to TEST and APPROVE what God's will is. His will for every area of our lives. But His word must be the measuring line by which we test all things.
