Dreamer of Dreams

As far back as I can remember, I have always been a dreamer. I spent most of my life not remembering most of my dreams and not really paying attention to ones I did remember. It didn’t really occur to me that my dreams could have meaning until I was about 21 years old. I started noticing that I’d get a dream and wouldn’t be able to forget about it. My spirit would feel heavy as I went about my day and the dream would keep coming back to me over and over again. At the time, I would recall the dream and try to understand it. It wasn’t something that I liked simply because dreams are very symbolic and a lot of the times I wouldn’t understand them. I got very frustrated because of it and told God that I didn’t want to dream anymore (talk about pride, saints!). And do you know, I stopped getting dreams! After a while had passed, God began to work on my heart, not only concerning my attitude toward dreams, but my calling as well.
Needless to say, I ended up repenting to God for my pride and I literally had to pray that God would help me not to despise my ability to see and not to resent the way in which He was speaking to me. He gently reminded me that if He gave me a dream, He would be more than willing to give me the interpretation of the dream. In fact, He wanted me to the bring my dreams to Him because the same God who gave me the dream, would be the same God Who would give me the interpretation by His Spirit.
And from the time I repented, I began to dream again. I began to write them down too. I purposed within myself that I would bring my dreams before God in prayer and that I would commit to learning as much as possible about dreams and Christian dream interpretation so I started reading some online articles that I could find. I also did an online dream interpretation course with a trusted trainer and I also found other resources which also helped me tremendously.
All in all, my mindset surrounding dreams has done a full 180! Instead of viewing it as a burden, I am overjoyed that I have eyes to see and that God has seen it fit to give me this gift.
So if you're a dreamer and you're struggling with interpretation, write your dreams down, take them to the Father and He will give you interpretation in due season. There are some dreams that will be easy to interpret and others that you won't have a clue about but I know that if you seek God for an answer, He will give it. Don't be discouraged, growth is sometimes slow and steady and not instantaneous so give yourself the freedom to learn and grow in this gift.
Sometimes you may not receive revelation right away but even in that, God is faithful to show you when the time is right. There are dreams that I got yearsss ago that I'm only now understanding but you know what? That's because it's due season for that revelation. Ever so often, I go back to the dreams that I've written down and God gives me fresh perspective and insight concerning them.
I'm so excited for you...for us! I'm so grateful that God chooses to share His heart with us. That He's given us eyes to see in the spirit, not just for seeing sake but to guide us, to warn us, to reveal mysteries, to encourage us and to give us wisdom for the future! He equips us with the information and insight we need to be effective intercessors in the kingdom of God. So if you're a dreamer, welcome! Welcome to the realm of the seer. This is just the beginning.
"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.
P.S. Every dream is not necessarily from God. If you are worrying excessively about something, you may dream because of it “A dream comes when there are many cares.” (Eccl 5:3a) These are usually called soul dreams, simply because they originate in the soul. A dream may also be the work of a demonic entity. I used to get these quite frequently before I truly understood the power of God and the immense victory that was won at Calvary. As long as you are living for God and pursuing Him, the enemy has no right to your sleep/rest. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb. Hold fast to God's promises and know that He gives sweet sleep to those He loves. You can sleep in peace knowing that God is with you.
P.S.S. When interpreting, pay attention to your surroundings, the emotions you feel during the dream, the colours you see etc. Everything in a dream is like a puzzle piece, you have to put the pieces together to see the bigger picture and when you do that, it’ll all make sense.
Sometimes connections can be made depending on the context of the dream e.g. food can represent provision. So for example, if I dream about receiving pasta for instance, it can mean that I will receive provision from Italy or an Italian source.
Dreaming is something that for the most part, is very personal, in the sense that God speaks to each of us in a way that we understand. God is amazing that way! Just like how He speaks to people all over the world in languages that they understand, He speaks to us in dream languages that we understand.
Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy. (1 Cor 14:1 NIV)
If you don't dream but you want to, all you have to do is ask the Father. His Word tells us to eagerly desire spiritual gifts so ask and you shall receive!
Below are a listed of some dream symbols and their interpretations based on a few of the dreams that I have had.
Food - provision
Spider - demonic spirit
Snake - lie, deception, satan
Water - Holy Spirit
Fish - souls
Eagle - prophetic calling, prophet
House - a person (e.g. my house represents me/my personhood), a ministry/church
Bathroom - repentance
Storage room - memory
Living room - social life/livelihood
Bedroom - intimacy
People can also represent nations (e.g. a bride in white (of a particular nationality) can represent the church/bride of Christ in that nation/region) Resources
